Introducing Blue Birdies 1 and 2!!!

Okay, since nothing so far is that eventful, I'll just spend this entry talking about Blue Birdies.

Once upon a time, in a section of a medical class of 120+ students composed of Warriors, Tigers, Archers, Birdies, and Pagans, there were two individuals who loved picking on a certain female Archer. For some reason, these two individuals disliked the color green, which the Archer represented. In the same way, this certain Archer disliked the color blue, which the two individuals (who turned out to be Birdies) represented.

One day, the professors divided the class into smaller groups. These groups were divided in alphabetical order. Unfortunately for the poor Archer, the two Blue Birdies' family names were close to hers, and so they were grouped together. Through the days, weeks, and months, they were always grouped together, and as a result, the poor Archer was always victim to the Blue Birdies' jokes and antics. Then came a day when the Archer finally said "I will not be defeated by such creatures!" and she stood up and began poking the Blue Birdies, as if piercing them with her arrows. The Blue Birdies were now the victims of the vicious poking attacks of the Archer, and Blue Birdy #1 became the usual target because of the incredible softness and fluidity of his belly. Blue Birdy #2 on the other hand decided to compromise with the Archer by being extra nice in order to borrow the Archer's prized Nintendo DS and beautiful iPhone. However, Blue Birdy #2 was a sneaky one, as he would at times assault the Archer with happy insults.

As time went by, the Blue Birdies and the Archer became accustomed with each other. As groupmates they helped each other survive the storms of Medical School and became friends. Thus they lived happily ever after. The End.

Eh... That's basically how things went with me and those two guys. I'm sleepy now. Good night.

Uneventful Day Today

So the first day of school for the new year began. Weh... It's like nothing happened. We had lectures on Cestodes for Parasitology and Newborns for Pediatrics... And you don't even wanna know all that right? Lol.

The day wasn't really that eventful. It's just like any other normal school day. Well, the only thing eventful was that I got a box of chocolates from one of my classmates (whom I shall refer to now as blue birdy #1) as a late Christmas gift. Yey! The very first gift I got from someone in UE. Hahaha!

Anyway, I hope this year will be better than the last. We had a lot of crap last year from my dads sickness, to Ondoy, and to the media massacre. Not to mention the downfall of my grades. Ugh...

I call him blue birdy #1 because there are actually two of them and are from Ateneo. :P And the stick together like birds of a feather that flock together. I'm already enrolled in UE for med school. I just need to take the physical exam on June 3. Weh...

School in DLSU started yesterday... I miss the school already. I guess I still have that archer spirit in me. Weee! Anyway, I'm gonna watch the anime I've been given since last year. They're gathering dust already. XD

Okay, so it's been quite a long since I've posted... 2 months actually. Well, I've been very busy. Thesis, Long tests, projects, community service, Valentine's Day... XD Anyway, a lot of things happened these past two months. As always, school is being an ass. But I'm planning to be DL this last term before I graduate. However, so far, I don't think I'm doing to good. >.< Well, I'm passing and stuff, but... Weh. I don't know if my effort's enough. >.<

Hmm... What else happened so far? Valentine's Day was fun. XD I went to Robinsons and played Timezone, got free lunch and stuff. XD Not so romantic, but what the heck. I'm not cheesy. As long as I get free food I'm happy. Lolz.

Community service was also fun. And it wasn't only because I enjoyed the fieldwork... Nyehehe... (I'll add more to this when I get home...)

Anyway, I guess that's all I can say. We're a year and a month and still going. ^^ Well, until graduation I guess. *sigh*

Wahaha!

Anyway, highlight of the day: There was a kitten stuck on a tree in our house. Poor kitty kept mewing. >.< I got a ladder and tried to save it, luckily, it seemed to be very friendly with people. It didn't attack me or what, so I tried saving it. And well, actually I wasn't able to bring her down myself (Yes, it's a female. XD). But I did manage to free her from being caught between the branches where she was stuck. She finally came down on her own. And when she did, she started FOLLOWING me everywhere! She kept rubbing herself on me too. Waaah! I wanted to keep her! But my mom wouldn't let me. I had to bring her outside. >.< My mom even let the dogs go to keep the kitty away. Waah! Poor kitty! I even had a hard time bringing her out 'cause she kept going back in. Kept following me. >.< Waaaah... I hope that kitty doesn't get runover or attacked by dogs. She was too adorable! She definitely wasn't like one of those street cats that had skin disease or disgusting looking faces. She was soooo cute!!!!!! Waaaaah! I really wanted to keep her!!!! Sana pinicturan ko pala siya! Eating and drinking in the laboratories!!! XD). Well, I went to school just to submit my thesis and to pick up my recommendation letters. I found all the profs in the lab partying. So I went in and gave my thesis, then I was about to leave so that I could eat lunch, when my Ecology teacher told me to stay and eat there with them. Well, so I did. And I ended up being part of their games and raffles. It seems that they didn't care that I was the only student there. Wahahaha! The more, the merrier I guess. XD It was funny hearing them singing karaoke and singing Christmas carols using the alphabet... Yeah, my Physiology teacher was the noisiest of them all, and I can't forget his group singing "Pasko Na Naman" with the alphabet. Nyahahaha! They also had raffles, and I also joined in. I won a liter of Coke. Bwahahaha! XD Well, it's better than winning a can of sardines or corned beef. I can't believe they made those prizes for a raffle. It's more like a consolation prize. Bwahahaha!

Well, anyway, I had fun. I have three more parties to attend to, too. XD At the end of all this, I hope I DO get a MERRY Christmas and a HAPPY birthday.

I ruled them ALL (well, except for one guy who was actually pretty good) in Tekken 5 and Guitar Hero 3, the latter being the first time I played the game. Seriously, I didn't expect myself to be "not bad" in Guitar Hero 3. I only played the 2nd one and this 3rd one had lots of new stuff in it so I was already disadvantaged. And yet... MWAHAHAHAHA! Well, after all that, I've been labeled "gameshark" now by those certain "carpool-mates" of mine. I guess I just ruined their supposedly "manly pride". Bwahahaha!

Last weekend, I had a Lasallian retreat along with my BIO blockmates in Taytay, Rizal. Like all the retreats I've been to, it was holy... Well, not really. XD Of course we prayed and stuff, but we also did... other stuff. You get the picture. XD The retreat house was huge. Well, compared to the retreat houses when I was still in Woodrose, this one we went to was just so... BIG. It even had its own trail around a forest, it had a great view of Makati City, and they had pet bunny rabbits. Well, everyone seemed to like the bunnies. Nyehehe...

I had a lot of fun in this retreat. Well, aside from the fact that I get to spend extra quality time with *ahem*, I saw a couple of shooting stars in the sky and some fireflies! I've never seen fireflies before in my life! Actually, they were flying up high by the trees so at night, they look like stars that are moving around in weird directions. Hmm... what else? Oh yeah, the view of Makati City at night was really, really pretty. Well, you won't appreciate it in the day time because you see all the smoke and pollution, but at night, WOW. You'd be like... O_O I was like that anyway. XD And let's not forget the highlight of the retreat... I was walking down the lobby until I didn't notice the gap between the steps that were above the Koi pond. Um... yeah. My left foot fell in and I currently have two bruises. One huge ott. ne beside my knee and another one just above my foot. Thankfully, no bones were broken (a certain someone was worried sick about me. Awww. Sweet. XD Wahahaha!).

And like most retreats, there was that part were they make you cry. Well, yeah I did cry, but it was because of the palanca *ahem* gave me (he made me cry!!! >.<) and, yeah the activity we had to do that time added more to my tears. Oh, I should also include the pain I was feeling because of my HOLY injury. Bwahaha! Anyway, the last activity involved making a time capsule, which will be opened five years from now. What did I put in the capsule? Well, just two papers we had to make in one activity and a picture of me and *ahem*... And in the cartolina we had to write stuff in for ourselves in the future, I wrote down that I'd be a successful doctor, be more religious, still be close friends with genius and *ahem*... and still be with *ahem*. Weh... I'm trying to not put too much cheese here, but I guess it can't be helped. Grarr. This is what happens when you're in <3. >.<

CRAP!!! She said it had to be no less than 50. 50! FIFTY! Amf!!! 50 is like... O_O A lot! It's so hard to collect 15 feather stars, what more 50?! Well, after that thesis conversation with her, I got so stressed. Really. My sitch is getting worse and worse, and I thought things got better too. I improved my thesis proposal that I submitted to her. I thought she'd be better than my previous adviser. Well, she was just a bit. But next term according to her, I may be transferring to another thesis adviser. x_x Capital W T H?! I already feel like a gift that was opened, repacked, and passed on to another person. It's nuts, really. Now all I want to do is do my thesis the best I can with what I have, especially with the time I have left. My oral defense is next term already. Anyway, my adviser said she'll speak with my previous adviser and talk to him about how I passed THSBIO1 and THSBIO2 with 9 to 15 specimens written in my proposal. I really hope 15 is fine. My thesis is NOT as easy as it looks. She told me that I'll have to finish EVERYTHING asap, before the Christmas break. And when I say everything, I mean including the OUTPUT. I've got less than a month. O_o Please pray for me. I really want to pass this in one go. No repeating. I want to graduate on time. I don't want to disappoint my parents. I'm doing the best I can on my thesis. 15 HAS to be good enough!

PLEEEAAASSSSEEE PRAY FOR ME!!!!!!!!! x_x

Okay. All you LASALLIANS out there, you'll have a laugh reading this. As for you ATENEANS, I hope you aren't as sour as the one who posted this just because we won the UAAP this year. I received it through YM a while ago by an Atenean who, obviously, is feeling really sour about UAAP. >_<

I hate to say it, but their basketball team has given the league nothing but trouble since it entered. Before the 1988 season got underway, they 'recruited" John Edel Cardel who played high school ball and college hoops for San Sebastian . Incredibly, he soon after donned the green and white without even establishing residency! When I asked a UAAP board member why DLSU was not penalized for that, they said they decided to let it slide for some unexplained reason. Then they got into not one but two rumbles with Ateneo... both in non- UAAP tournaments in 1988 & 89. A year or so later, some of their wins were overturned when Noli Locsin was found ineligible to play (although he did make a comeback a year later). George Peralta, their transferee from PATS was also suspected of having bogus papers during that time although nothing conclusive came out of it. Then there were their players like Zandro Limpot and Don Allado who were enrolled in the College of Saint Benilde . La Salle defended this by saying that it was one and the same college. But the schools aside, most of their players never even finished! Some were even going to class years after their final playing year. How can they play out their entire UAAP eligibility if they never even finish their courses? Remember after the PEP Test scandal they "kicked out" Ryan Arana? As if suddenly they were so conscious of their players studying so they decided to make an example of him. Yes, I heard too that he aswered back to one of the professors. But I don't know whether that's true or not. Then a few years ago, they claimed that Mike Cortez and Willy Wilson threw the game. Whether true or not, isn't that what they teach their recruits? Yes, I know that Ateneo lost Jay-R Reyes because of some alumnus who in Reyes' mother's own words, "binibili kaming parang karne." Shame on you, dude! At least this alumnus who feuded with team management because of his ways is no longer a part of the program. But back to the Green Archers, a number of of their players openly feuded with their coach for accusations regarding throwing a game or for not signing with the coach's partner-manager. In fact, some chose to play out their final year of eligibility in schools like CSB and UP. One of your former players who left even went to ADMU to ask if he can go there even if it meant losing some playing years because he hated what was going on in Taft. And no that wasn't BJ Manalo. Well, BJ would have played again for ADMU but that is another story. Thankfully he didn't although it would have been a nice thing to rub their noses in the dirt. Then there was the PEP Test scandal that hasn't even been resolved and which they aren't even repentant about. Instead like their media minions, they say they were honest enough to admit their fault--when no one knew about it --and as a token of their good intentions they returned their trophy so they won't be penalized. I'm not sure now, but didn't they go to court to try and stop this? There were even threats to bolt the league. One school rep even opined during the voting that he thought that DLSU should have been meted out a two- year suspension because instead of being repentant, maangas pa sila. So following their logic, if I steal from a bank and 'fess up then it's all hunky dory? That I don't have to go to jail since in a moment of clarity I decided to be honest? And it's hard to believe that even their players can't even describe their own courses in school that they need their coach to explain it for them. Oh yeah, mahirap nga pala yung course nila. Bast mahirap i- explain so let's lay-off. Ayt, if you say so. And then there was Mac Cardona. The future Captain Hook wasn't taken in by NU because his papers weren't fixed then he shows up all of a sudden in green and white. So what did Manny Dandan miss here? Months following the inital uproar about the PEP Test scandal, I wrote about the UAAP Report in the Business Mirror (on the same day Dong Puno came out with his take on it in the Philippine Star). I received my copy of the report from a disgruntled La Sallian who was clearly angry about this win-at-all-costs mentality. In the report, there were several items that weren't previously made public and it was shocking to see how a veil of silence surrounded the investigation. Upon reading the report, one can postulate there was an apparent cover up somewhere that no one wanted to follow up on it anymore. I railed against the UAAP Board for not having balls (and I still think that they don't) to nail La Salle for this and they said that "tama na yung one-year suspension." One of those named in the report even called Mr. Puno to ask if he could stop writing about it. Tsk. Tsk. Then there was that fight with DLSU in 2003 that was nearly the same as the San Beda-Letran fight about a week ago wherein it was started by some boorish Green Archer fans. And there is their hero Rafa Dinglasan, the original suntok-then- takbo. Yes we all know na kinuyog si Billy Del Rosario in 1989, but that was just as much as Billy's fault for taunting and it happened right in front of DLSU's bench. Wasn't it Dinglasan who repeated his feat when he ran from the stands and took a swipe at Ateneo's PT guy in 2003--from behind? Apparently, Ryan Arana studied history as a subject for he pulled the same stunt on Wesley Gonzalez--from behind--before he decided it was better to dance. And how can we even forget Manny Salgado! Teka minute... someone texted me this.... okay now don't get sensitive here. The whole text reads, "I have decided to become an Iglesia ni CHRISTIU and La Salle is no longer Catholic because they decided to become PROTESTants. " Now back to the diatribe. I know that trash talking is part of the game, but some of their players like Rico Maierhofer and PJ Walsham do things that can really hurt players. Maierhofer should have been thrown out for that flagrant foul on Mark Borboran (or was it Elmer Espiritu). Will the UAAP Board/Technical Committee review that sequence? May tuhod pa si Maierhofer pagkatapos. In the previous match with Ateneo, he almost tried the same stunt on Ford Arao. And then there's Brian Ilad who pulled a Salgado of his own. From behind. Sabay tago. You know, it's not fun playing these guys anymore. I wish they'd move to another league. They have elevated collegiate competition to cutthroat competition. As I like to say, they're a pro basketball team masquerading as a college team. When Ferdinand fell--deliberately- -on Ford Arao during the last game, the green gallery cheered. After Ilad's sucker punch, their crowd still cheered: "DLSU. Animo La Salle!" Class. Pure class. Now if their players only attended them.

Posted by Rick Olivares

I'm sorry if it looks so unattractive to read. Well, it's what's expected from someone who's too sour to even separate his rants into paragraphs. XD All kidding aside though, I'm sure most of you know that all those things stated in the above "rant" don't really mean OR prove anything except the maturity of the one who wrote it down.
